The goal of my art is to colorfully and accurately depict the flaws of certain mentality that our culture has been propagating to us in the media. Fairytales for generations have been used to give warnings, set standards and display proper ethics. My work intends to continue that except through visual arts rather than words. Each piece takes careful consideration from the original fairytale, but adds an additional meaning when placed in a modern context. While most of my artwork has deeper meaning I decided that with my paintings I wanted to keep things simple by focusing on texture and having a full range of values in my piece. In order to emphasize these qualities I choose flowers to be my subject matter. Not only is there a range of values buried within the folds but unique textures that can be emphasized in highlights.
Looking back, what advice would you give yourself?

What's your favorite A+D memory?
My favorite A+D class was printmaking because it taught me to go outside of my comfort zone. The process was also calming as you slowly carved away to get the desired piece.
What was your favorite A+D class? Surprisingly it was foundations when I discovered my love for pointillism. It was really difficult to place dots not knowing how it would turn out. Yet it was worth the long process because of the intricate effect it gave.
