Inspiration for me comes from a variety of sources, particularly from art history, and vintage and antique styles. Prior to starting any composition, I compile together reference images, preliminary sketches and other research into mood boards. I then refer to these mood boards throughout each individual project. This helps me keep on task with what I'm creating and to guide me on how to render different objects and textures.
Looking back, what advice would you give yourself?
I honestly have trouble thinking of any particular piece of advice because I evolved in a multitude of ways across four years.
What's your favorite A+D memory?
That is difficult to choose because I have so many great memories here.
What was your favorite A+D class? Because I enjoy drawing people, my top class would have to be Drawing 2.
What moment, project, and/or critique in your Art + Design career at AU has been pivotal to who you are as an artist or creator?
Last semester's advanced drawing project was pivotal in my art career here at AU.
What's next for you?
Graduation.
I don't believe every piece of art needs a message; I just want to create art that people will enjoy and scrutinize simultaneously.
