Hola, I’m Vanessa Dominguez! I’m a graphic designer currently based in Greenville, South Carolina. I am passionate about designing with intentionality and honesty, making this evident through visionary solutions that prioritize individuals above all else. 

Design, to me, is the externalization of an idea that is intentional and honest. It's a process that dreams, asks questions, links, and embraces others. Design has the power to effect change and take risks, while also embodying values of sustainability, messiness, ethics, and meaning. I see design as a collaborative act of dreaming with God, where I invite His goodness into every aspect of the process. Driven by curiosity and a commitment to inclusivity. Design becomes a means of connecting, communicating, and sharing solutions that continuously empower others.

Looking back, what advice would you give yourself?

Be relentlessly curious and ask more questions!

Some of my fondest memories involve the design cohort laughing over crazy lists.  From Speaker quotes to who would be which dog breed or the lead guitarist in our band.

History of Graphic Design was my favorite A+D class. It was a pivotal moment when I understood the significance of my career as a designer, especially the unique responsibilities I hold as a Latina in the field. After that class, I approached design with a new sense of purpose and inspiration.

What moment, project, and/or critique in your Art + Design career at AU has been pivotal to who you are as an artist or creator?

I’d say the many one-on-one meetings with Speaker, Anspach, and Peterson are moments I won’t forget. Their wisdom and support have made me not only a better designer but a better person.

Moving forward, I hope to keep my design work exciting and consistent with my beliefs and values while embracing continuous learning and curiosity. Potentially, within the Greenville area!

 I hope my work makes an impact by embracing and empowering others first.
